4PDFs is built with privacy as a core feature, not an afterthought. Here's exactly what happens when you use our tools.

Free tools: zero uploads

All free tools (Merge, Split, Compress, Rotate, JPG to PDF, PDF to JPG, Page Numbers, Watermark) run entirely in your browser using JavaScript libraries (PDF-LIB and PDF.js). Your files never leave your device. We can't see them. We don't have them. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is logged, nothing is stored on our servers.

Day Pass tools: temporary processing

Day Pass tools that require server-side processing (PDF to Word, OCR, AI Chat, etc.) need to receive your file briefly to do their work. When you use these tools:

• Files are uploaded over HTTPS to our processing server
• Processed files are returned to your browser
• Both copies are deleted from our servers within 1 hour
• We never read, share, or train models on your documents

What we collect

For Day Pass purchases, we collect your email address (to send the access link) and Stripe handles all payment data — we never see card numbers. For all visitors, we use minimal server logs (IP, user agent, page) for security and analytics. We don't use third-party advertising trackers.

Cookies

We use a single first-party cookie to track Day Pass session state. No third-party tracking cookies. No analytics that follow you across the web.

Your rights

You can request deletion of your email or any account data by writing to support@4pdfs.com. We honor requests within 30 days.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll change the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be announced via the email addresses we have on file for active Day Pass holders.
